Massage Device Amplitude Explained
What amplitude means in massage guns and vibration devices—and why it changes how a device feels.
Amplitude is the distance a treatment surface travels during its movement cycle. It is one of the biggest mechanical differences between short-stroke vibration devices and deep-stroke percussion massagers.
Short stroke
Rapid Release lists the Pro3+ at 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) amplitude. That short travel is paired with high frequency.
Deeper stroke
Many percussion massagers use substantially more travel. More amplitude is not automatically “better”; it creates a different mechanical experience and may suit different preferences.
Use amplitude as one filter
Pair amplitude with frequency, ergonomics, weight, speed control, intended use, warranty and return policy.
